Sugar Land, Texas — SpiderSmart at Sugar Land students received national and regional recognition for a year of extraordinary creativity and diligent work in writing. The Alliance for Young Artist and Writers announced the regional winners of the 2023 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. This prestigious competition is the nation’s longest-running recognition program for teens.
Among the winners were more than 50 SpiderSmart at Sugar Land students who carefully crafted a wide variety of writing — from critical essays to personal narratives to poems to creative writing — during our 2022 Summer Camp and the 2022 Fall Semester.
Our professionally-trained teachers worked closely with students to develop their writing into competition-quality work. This involved paying attention to style, curating the flow, and maintaining a consistent voice.
This meticulous work paid off: our students received 97 awards in total — one national gold medal, six national silver medal, 30 Gold Key, 28 Silver Key, and 32 Honorable Mention.
