The Run (Cougar Prowl)

Brianna H. (rising 4th grader)

Boom!! What was that? It was the pistol that meant we were off. “Come on, or else we are going to be late,” I vocalized to my mom. It was 6.00 a.m., I was tired, but we had to go. My mom was watching me making sure I was safe while my teacher was cheering me on saying, “Go Brianna”. I was running with my friends, but I ran faster than my friends. I was running as fast as I could because I wanted to be the first one to cross the finish line. It was December 2019. That meant it was the winter because it was also freezing. I was at my school ready to start dashing. We were running 1 mile. We were running around the closest neighborhood by my school. I wanted to run around the neighborhood as rapidly as I could to be the leading one to cross the finish line. “You can do it, run as fast as you can.”, I mumbled to myself. I was sprinting in the air. My mom was way behind me because she is not a fast runner, trust me. My friends were trying to catch up to me, but I was too fast. I was in the middle of two groups. One group was all boys and the other was a mixture of girls, boys, and teachers. I wanted to be before the boys, but sadly I was right after the boys. At the end of the day, I was dashing, sprinting, and running as fast as I could. I was scurrying as fast as a jack-rabbit sprinting to not get chopped by the predator. I was sprinting until I got to the finish line. “Yes”, I hollered out of breath when I crossed the finish line. Once I crossed the finish line, I got a medal. I was proud that I got the medal and was the first girl to cross the finish line. I was hungry because I did not eat while I was running. I was also out of breath. You need to be healthy or else you will not be able to run fast and you will not be able to do what I did. The moral of the story is to never give up. If you give up, you will never do what you want.
